exhibitions in 2020
Two related pilot projects formed the prelude to the future working practice of INTER-. Under the titles OUTSIDE (Waldhausener Straße 2-6, Mönchengladbach) and INSIDE (Nails Projectroom, Düsseldorf), two exhibitions have outlined the tension between belonging and demarcation from changing perspectives – topics that will be artistically explored within the project in new working models and open-result processes.
Laboratory for new working models in art and exhibition practice
Engaging in a non-hierarchical, interdisciplinary exchange and developing new working models in the art world are the main intentions of the initiative. Along with the blog, two related exhibition projects form the pilot phase of INTER-. In February 2020 we convened a think tank of young transmedial artists and art theorists. Together we developed strategies and approaches for exhibitions in Mönchengladbach and Düsseldorf. OUTSIDE and INSIDE will stand as a yield of our research, a collage of our working methods. In this sense, they are not pure art exhibitions, but rather a collection of results revealing the research phase and processes of young artists and cultural practitioners over the last months since the think tank. Beyond familiar modes of curation, they are pilot experiments, tests of new methods, future-oriented concepts of working together.
